Check out our Twitter page for Twitpics from Hempcon 2010 in Los Angeles. The festival was a little stripped down this year, but there were some great deals being offered by clubs and a few quality products for sale. Delta 9 had the most impressive glass, though just about every major glass company chose to stay away (the March show in Las Vegas is much more important). Overall, a decent show, but nothing to go too crazy over if you’re not a patient or grower.

HOLLYWOOD HILLS
Location: Various addresses. From the LA side, take La Brea going north, then make a right at Franklin Ave. Make a left on Outpost Drive, and take it all the way to Mulholland (where Outpost ends). There are scenic spots to the left and right of Outpost, so choose based on location. A left leads to several Los Angeles overlooks and leads to the LA side of Laurel Canyon. A right sends one to the valley side, with more scenic overlooks, and eventually leads down to the Cahuenga Pass (great shortcut for that 6 PM Hollywood slam on Highland).
High – a solid head high with an accompanying body high and a lot of cottonmouth
Benefits – stimulates senses, generates appetite
Flavor – Intense kush flavor with decently medium smoke
Good for – going out, watching TV or movies, sex, being touched, pre-meal bowl
Bad for – true productivity, homework, being at work
Thoughts from the Staff
Gabriella – “Tasty weed that makes all my woman spots tingle. This stuff makes me want to go out to a club, dance, stare at the lights and go home with the first guy that makes out with my neck.”
HL – “As long as I’m not doing anything important, Pre98 makes living life in general much more enjoyable. The sun feels better on my face, food tastes better, and I’ve nicknamed it ‘green viagra…’ you do the math on that one.”
After a trek in the Hollywood Hills, we headed down to Mike’s Smoke Shop and checked out some of their products. Mike’s is the best shop in Hollywood right now, with really fair prices and the best selection of name brand pieces. We’ll have full reviews of Smoke Shops in the future, but for now here’s a few pics.
Reporting from Sacramento – A proposal to legalize and tax marijuana in California was approved by a key committee of the Assembly on Tuesday, but it is not expected to get further consideration by the Legislature until next year.
Despite a procedural glitch, backers hailed the committee’s action as historic because it represented the first legislative approval of the proposal.
“This vote marks the formal beginning of the end of marijuana prohibition in the United States,” predicted Stephen Gutwillig, California state director of the Drug Policy Alliance, a pot legalization group.

With the debate on medical marijuana still at a full boil in Los Angeles, a judge Friday ordered the return of 60 pounds of pot to a man after his attorneys successfully argued that a state law gave him the right to transport it.
Saguro Doven, 33, was initially charged with possession of marijuana for sale and transportation of the drug, a violation of the state’s health and safety code.
